I built Mechanic Mate because Indian garage owners deserve business software as simple as their phone — not enterprise dashboards designed for someone else.
Why we built Mechanic Mate
If you've walked into an independent Indian garage recently, you've seen it: a diary on the workbench, a WhatsApp thread of vehicle photos, a stack of loose paper bills, and a dozen customer phone numbers written on the wall. It works — until it doesn't. Customers ask when their next service is due, and no one remembers. A GST return comes around, and the owner spends a weekend adding up bills. A regular customer's vehicle history lives in the mechanic's head, which walks out the door if he changes jobs.
Existing garage software solved this — but was mostly built for large multi-branch service centres. Big desktop dashboards, sales calls, enterprise pricing. Beautiful for a chain of 20 workshops. Overkill for the millions of independent garages that actually make up the Indian auto-repair market.
Mechanic Mate is what happens when you build the tool that fits the actual customer. One app. Runs on a mid-range Android phone. GST-ready from day one. Costs less than a tank of petrol per month. Set up in five minutes. No sales call.
What we believe
Software should meet the customer where they are
Indian garage owners already run their business on WhatsApp and their phone. Business software should live there too — not on a laptop upstairs.
Compliance shouldn't be a research project
GST invoices, HSN codes, CGST/SGST splits — these should just work by default. If we're building for Indian garages, this is the default, not a "pro feature".
Pricing should be honest
Public tiers, one page. No "contact sales." No hidden per-branch charges. ₹299 a month, ₹1,999 a year. That's it.
Small garages are the market
Most Indian garages are 1–10 mechanics. That is who we build for — and if we ever start optimising for enterprise, we've drifted.
